Material Options

 

Conductive carrier tape is typically manufactured from thermoplastic materials such as PS (Polystyrene), PC (Polycarbonate), PET, or ABS combined with conductive additives.

 

These materials allow the tape to maintain stable pocket structures while providing conductive properties required for electrostatic protection.

 

Cover tape is usually manufactured from PET film with adhesive or heat-seal layers. The cover tape is designed to seal the pockets of the carrier tape securely while allowing controlled peel strength during SMT feeding.

 

Material selection may vary depending on component sensitivity, sealing method, and production requirements.

 

Packaging Structure

 

  • In tape and reel packaging, electronic components are first placed into the pockets of the conductive carrier tape.
  • The cover tape is then applied to seal the pockets and hold the components securely in place.

1. PVC Blister

High-toughness, non-flammable, soft PVC sheet. Customizable (transparent, colored, anti-static, gold-plated, flocked) with strong impact resistance and easy forming. Widely used for toys, food, electronics, cosmetics, etc.

 

2. PET Blister

Rigid, high-strength, food-grade safe PET with glossy surface. Customizable colors, ideal for export and eco-sensitive packaging. Not suitable for hot pressing or high-frequency welding.

 

3. PP Blister

Semi-translucent frosted PP with good toughness, anti-static/conductive properties, and heat resistance (≈120°C). Eco-friendly, non-toxic, microwave-safe; preferred for food and precision electronics packaging.

 

4. PS Blister

Lightweight, eco-friendly PS with high plasticity but brittleness. Excellent anti-static/conductive performance, mainly for blister trays. Not recyclable due to brittleness.
